Peking Duck Master Chef Yuan Chao Ying shares China’s iconic dish

Makati Shangri-La welcomes the New Year with one of Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts’ truly gifted Chinese barbecue experts, Chef Yuan Chao Ying of Beijing from January 4 to 8, 2012 at Shang Palace. With over 30 years of experience, Chef Yuan has perfected the very complex art of preparing one of China’s most iconic dishes, the Peking Duck.

Chef Yuan takes on the culinary heritage of Beijing’s famous Quanjude Peking roast duck from the Quanjude restaurant, where he worked as a chef for 23 years. The restaurant was established during the Qing Dynasty in 1864, wherein its Peking duck recipe was served to the imperial families during that era.

As Chef Yuan makes his way to Manila, he brings along with him this time-honored tradition. After decades of perfecting China’s top signature dish, Chef Yuan embarks on a journey around Asia to share this delicate craft of preparing Peking Duck, making a stop in Manila to create a truly authentic Chinese dining experience at Shang Palace. Guests who book in the private room may enjoy a selection of set menus tailor-made to highlight the flavors of the Peking Duck.

Start the celebrations for the Chinese New Year early with the master chef from Beijing, a preview of even more exciting things to come at Makati Shangri-La, keeping true to its commitment in offering guests only the world’s finest dining experiences.
