Ateneo de Manila launches Share Care donation campaign for Sendong victims

Christmas 2011 would perhaps be remembered as out of the ordinary. With  typhoon Sendong bringing devastation to various parts of Mindanao, the spirit of bayanihan proved very much alive in the country as help poured in for the typhoon victims.

This New Year, counting on that generous spirit of bayanihan among our countrymen, the Ateneo de Manila University launches its Ateneo Share Care Extra Christmas Gifts Donation Campaign. The campaign aims to collect brand new gifts as yet unused and sell them at 50% off their market price, tax-free. The campaign is for the benefit of typhoon Sendong victims as well as for the Ateneo Center for Educational Development (ACED) and the Ateneo Professional Schools’ (APS) Blueplate for Better Learning Program.

The Blueplate for Better Learning is a feeding program for 4,000 public school children in various areas in Quezon City. The program aims to provide the students with nutritious meals so as to improve their performance in school by addressing the problem of malnutrition.

Gift donations may be brought to the Ateneo School of Government at Ortiz Hall, Social Development Complex at the Ateneo campus in Loyola Heights. Gift donations will be accepted until January 20, from 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday to Friday. The culminating activity will be a bazaar which will be held on January 28-29, 2012 at the Bellarmine field also at the Ateneo’s Loyola Heights campus.
