Saving lives through blood drive

These days when sickness is so common and diseases are spreading, the need for help rises especially for those who are dying due to shortage of blood.
In the US, more than 38,000 blood donations are needed every day.  In the world, more than 1 million people are diagnosed with cancer each year. In the Philippines, about 1 in every 7 people entering the hospital needs blood. Despite the need of blood in the Philippines, studies say that not many Filipinos realize the importance of blood donation. Many accidents occur in this country: fireworks, cancers, and a number of small and big illnesses require blood transfusion. The number of the population who are needing of blood and the number of people donating blood in the Philippines are dramatically opposite in ratio.
The World Mission Society Church of God is at the forefront in responding to this need and plans to educate the Filipinos at the same time with the importance of blood donation as they will hold an exponential blood donation campaign, gathering over 600 members in Metro Manila as donors.  This historical event will happen on January 29, 2012, Quezon City, Quezon City Hall Ground.
The blood campaign entitled, “I Have Already Come” is to show the society that God already had come to save mankind with His blood of the Passover. It is to make the Filipinos aware of the importance of blood donation in accordance with the teachings of God. We believe that the Filipinos are ‘God fearing people’ and therefore teaching them the importance of blood donation through biblical teachings is appropriate.
This blood drive is in cooperation with the Philippine Red Cross, St. Luke’s Hospital and Mercury Drug who all share the same purpose of saving lives. All three gave their initiatives to make a difference. (Press Release)
