UERMMMC Medical Association of Southern California holds PAGIBIG medical mission
The UERMMMC Medical Association of Southern California will spend Valentine's Day with the people of Lucena, Quezon. In cooperation with the Archdiocese of Lucena and the Office of the Mayor of Lucena, the association will conduct the PAGIBIG Medical Mission providing major and minor surgeries and medical consultations from February 13-15, 2012 at the Mt. Carmel Diocesan Hospital and the Auditorium at the Bishop's Compound.
About 40 volunteers from Southern California, Manila and Lucena, comprising of surgeons, pediatricians, internists and nurses will provide free consultations, medications and surgeries to the indigent people of Lucena.
The Medical Mission is headed by Dr. Ma. Teresa Galarpe-Pastor as President of the UERM Medical Center Medical Alumni Association of Southern California, Dr. Neda Ballon- Reyes as President-Elect of the UERM Medical Alumni Association of America, and Dr. Ed Banez, past President of both Associations. They are joined by the Health Care Services International, a group of nurses who have joined UERMMMC-MAASC missions to the Philippines annually for the past 12 years.
The first part of the Mission will be held in Iligan City from February 10-11, 2012. Thousands of people are in dire need of proper medical care after the devastation from Typhoon Sendong last December 2012. It is the volunteers' hope that the medical mission could help alleviate in some way this need.
The mission will then proceed to Lucena from February 13-15,2012 .
