Alice and Lucinda's 'The parallel (lives) museum' at UP Vargas
The Vargas Museum in cooperation with the art platform Planting Rice and Finale Art File opens the
exhibition A&L: The parallel (lives) museum on 29 March 2012, 4pm at the 3F South Wing of the Museum.
Not so long ago, Alice and Lucinda became conspirators in alternative self-representations via D-I-Y
operations whose works take place in the social realm of urban Manila and the lo-fi art community. Yasmin Sison and Lena Cobangbang are co-generators of ideas in the state of perpetual flux in the days of Generation X, indie pop and alternative icons. Together, they create the alias “Alice and Lucinda” and their debut exhibit The Incredible Lives of Alice and Lucinda took place at Surrounded By Water in Angono in 1999.
Planting Rice and Finale Art File is proud to present A&L: The parallel (lives) museum featuring Alice & Lucinda from 29 March-2 May 2012 at the 3F South Wing Gallery of the UP Vargas Museum. Peering into the archives and ethnography of mysterious identities, this exhibition explores the function of clippings and compiled objects to a viewer– and how the curious case of public intimacy warrants for a unified case of public meaning.
