MINT College launches in San Francisco with Silicon Valley education partner

SAN FRANCISCO, California – Being the first college to offer free iPads to all enrolled students, MINT’s philosophy to transform education to meet the needs of the 21st Century is in full swing.

With locations in San Francisco and Manila, MINT College is well on its way to deliver innovative education on a global scale.  The new facility in the heart of downtown San Francisco will be completed in 2013.

Much like its other locations, MINT San Francisco will retain the Silicon Valley startup-like atmosphere, with beanbag rooms, a professional sound studio, gaming room, internet radio station, café, and Mac lab to name a few.

MINT College San Francisco has fortified its presence in the states by partnering with Foothill College in Silicon Valley through co-branded programs in the areas of business, arts and technology. This partnership aims to build a strong network in Silicon Valley in order to provide its colleges the opportunity to collaborate with some of the largest and most innovative technology and design companies in the world.

“Being able to give our students the opportunity to work on real world projects as early as their first year at MINT is part of our overall philosophy of integrating theory and practice early on and ensuring a seamless transition into the real world”, said Bal Endriga, MINT College President.

Freshman students Jasper Salimbangon, Christian Escolano and Charles Tan worked as group mates for their school projects at MINT. With their combined abilities in production and directing, they’ve been able to parlay their work into their own business venture. A recent production of theirs was a music video for rapper Ron Henley that was featured on the cable music channel MYX and currently has over 1 million views on YouTube. MINT College’s Playhouse also served as the venue for its screen debut.

Another first for MINT was the offering of iOS Application courses.  “At a time when corporations were still trying to figure out how to develop iOS apps, MINT was already teaching it as a course from a beginner’s level all the way to advanced programming.” Endriga mentions. “In today’s fast-paced environment, it behooves all schools to be able to adapt to the latest and relevant technologies, as this will provide students with much needed advantages when looking for employment in a highly demanding and competitive global market.”

MINT College focuses on business, arts and technology programs.  Based in San Francisco, but with campuses in Manila and soon in China by 2014, MINT offers both undergraduate degrees and professional courses in design, film, music, entrepreneurship, game design, information technology and computer science.  Press release and photo from MINT College
