'Window on Korea' collection to be launched at Ateneo's Rizal Library


The National Library of Korea (NLK) will launch a Window on Korea collection at the Ateneo de Manila University’s Rizal Library on August 29, 2012 at 3 p.m.
 
The Window on Korea is an initiative by the NLK which “provide(s) up to date Korea-related materials in a variety of topics and formats to people for a better understanding about Korea to leading libraries around the world.”
 
Window on Korea will be a designated room in the library which will contain “books on Korea in English and Korean, local language books, DVDs and CDs.” In the first year of the project, NLK will provide “1,000~4,000 volumes of Korea-related materials.” In the succeeding years of the project the NLK will provide “about 200 volumes of Korea-related materials per year during the next 5 years from 2013 to 2017.” Equipment like bookshelves and computers will also be provided for the project.
 
The Korean Embassy and the Korean Culture Center (KCC) in the Philippines will also help in the implementation of the project.
 
Ateneo de Manila University President Fr. Jett Villarin SJ, Korean Ambassador Hye Min Lee, and Digital Library Department Head Mr. Tae Yung Park of the National Library of Korea will lead the ribbon cutting ceremonies during the launch.
