'Botong & Puruganan: A Double Centennial Tribute' at the UST Museum
The UST Museum will hold an exhibition titled, “Botong & Puruganan: A Double Centennial Tribute” to celebrate the birth centenaries of National Artist Carlos “Botong” Francisco and Ricarte Puruganan, artists whose work expanded the boundaries of Philippine art. It will feature artworks from the UST Museum Visual Art collection, as well as works on loan from the collection of Norberto Martinez, MD. A special exhibition featuring photographs by Dick Baldovino titled “Botong and the Angono Environs” from the Cultural Center of the Philippines Collection will also be available for viewing at the Second Level of the UST Museum Main Gallery.
The exhibit is a rare look at early works by both artists who were faculty members of the then UST College of Architecture and Fine Arts (now known as the College of Fine Arts and Design),an institution considered to be the cradle of Modernism in the country.
The exhibit runs from September 18, 2012 at 4:00 p.m. at the UST Museum Main Gallery, until November 24, 2012.
