Tribute to Genius: GMA News TV screens 4 Marilou Diaz-Abaya films on Oct. 13, 14

Acclaimed director Marilou Diaz-Abaya passed away last Monday after a five year battle with cancer. 

 

She directed over 20 films from 1980 to 2011. Her early films condemned the oppression of Martial Law, her later films won a slew of awards and were screened at the biggest international film festivals. Abaya also worked in television -- directing Randy David’s Public Forum throughout its nine-year run, as well as the news satire program Sic O’Clock News. In her last years, Abaya focused on sharing her knowledge with the next generation of filmmakers at her film training institute.

 

GMA News TV honors Marilou Diaz-Abaya with tribute screenings of four of her greatest films this Saturday, October 13 and Sunday, October 14. Schedule is as follows:
