Spanish Embassy, Instituto Cervantes bring flamenco dance master class to Manila

A free flamenco dance master class will be taught by world-class Spanish choreographer Eduardo Guerrero on November 26, from 10:30 a.m. at Instituto Cervantes.

Cádiz-born choreographer Eduardo Guerrero will teach a free flamenco dance master class on Nov. 26
This world-class choreographer will lead the master class for performing arts students and dance enthusiasts at advanced levels. This once-in-a-lifetime opportunity is a critical experience for the developing performer, as they enable dance students to learn directly from Guerrero’s unique talent and perspectives as a touring artist. (For further information and registration, please call 5261482.)
One of the most outstanding bailaores of the young generation, the Cádiz-born artist will also treat flamenco enthusiasts to a fiery spectacle of a show as he presents De Dolores at the Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium, RCBC Plaza on 27, 7.00 p.m.

Born in 1983, Guerrero took his first dance steps at the early age of six at the dance studio of Carmen Guerrero in Cadiz. He studied Spanish dance at the Conservatorio de Danza de Cádiz and later completed his contemporary and classical training with David Greenall and Monserrat Marin.

Since 2002, he has been working with some of the most important artists of the Spanish dance scene. He has performed with some of the biggest names in flamenco such as Eva Yerbabuena, Amador Rojas or Antonio Canales, among others.

Despite his age, he already has his own company and has garnered several awards such as La Perla de Cádiz and the First prize in the II Choreographic Contest of Andalucia Professional Dance Conservatories for his own choreography Mayo (May).

De Dolores is a homage to the dancer’s grandmother, the person who noticed his talent at the early age of six years old. This is also part of the En Danza, a dance celebration meant to be an ode to the enjoyment of dance and its beauty.

En danza: De Dolores is jointly organized by the Embassy of Spain in the Philippines and Instituto Cervantes de Manila with the cooperation of the Spanish Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports and the Comunidad de Madrid, with the support of Casa Europa/PORCELANOSA, BENCH, Emperador Distillers and LT groups Inc.

Admission to the flamenco show is free on a first-come, first-served basis. For more information, please call 5261482 or visit the website. Instituto Cervantes de Manila is at 855 T.M. Kalaw St., Ermita, Manila.  Press release and photos from Instituto Cervantes
