We’re all shook up! Pintig art circle pays tribute to Elvis
There will always be rock legends and rock icons, but there can only be one true King of Rock and Roll. From his humble beginnings as a shy Memphis country boy with a passion for music to the glittered flamboyant heights of his career, Elvis Presley left the world an impression so big no other musician could ever fill his blue suede shoes. Elvis was one of the first Rock and Roll icons. His dashing good looks and energy became synonymous with the rise of a musical genre that shook up his generation and the next. And shake up things, Elvis did.
After concluding one of his shows in Wisconsin, the local Catholic diocese sent an urgent message through its newspaper to then FBI director J. Edgar Hoover, warning that "Presley is a definite danger to the security of the United States. ... [His] actions and motions were such as to rouse the sexual passions of teenaged youth. ... After the show, more than 1,000 teenagers tried to gang into Presley's room at the auditorium. ... Indications of the harm Presley did just in La Crosse were the two high school girls ... whose abdomen and thigh had Presley's autograph.”
Rock Legend, American Icon, Sex Symbol, the King has arrived, pelvic-thrusting his way up charts and silver screens. Boys impersonated him, girls screamed and fainted, wooden hearts were stolen, fools rushed in, and almost 40 years since his demise, Elvis has still not left the building.
The world just can’t help but fall in love with the King.
And who are we, the artists of Pinturang Himig (PINTIG) Art Circle, to do otherwise?
