Manila Symphony Orchestra performs 'The Trumpet Calls' on July 6
On July 6, 2013, the Manila Symphony Orchestra performs “The Trumpet Calls,” Concert No. 2 of the “Color Your World” 2013–2014 Concert Season. The concert features Belgian guest artists Manu Mallearts, trumpet, and Thanos Adamopoulos, guest conductor. The concert will be at 8:00 p.m. at the Francisco Santiago Hall, BDO Corporate Center, Makati. In this concert, the MSO explores golden themes of majesty and triumph with a performance of Mozart’s Symphony No. 35 “Haffner,” Hummel’s Trumpet Concerto in E Flat Major, and Schubert’s Symphony No. 9 in C Major “Great Symphony.”
Featured trumpet soloist Manu Mallearts is based in Brussels, Belgium. He is the artistic director of the brass ensemble Belgian Brass and solo trumpet player of La Monnaie Opera House. Last year, Manu gave a workshop for MSO brass members and also played as soloist for the Bamboo Organ Festival in Las Piñas.
Guest conductor Thanos Adamopoulos has served as concertmaster of the Monnaie Symphony Orchestra, Brussels. He has also served as guest coach for the distinguished Asian Youth Orchestra of which several MSO musicians have been members. He is currently the Music Director of the Brussels Philharmonic Orchestra.
