Unilever Food Solutions Philippines rolls out the first Chefmanship Academy in Southeast Asia

Spreading the Mark of True Chefmanship
Unilever Food Solutions Philippines rolls out the first
Chefmanship Academy in Southeast Asia

PHILIPPINES – Unilever Food Solutions (UFS) will be rolling out in the Philippines its globally successful Chefmanship Academy this July. Originally launched by UFS Germany in 2009, this series of workshops and seminars is specially made to help restaurateurs and chefs enhance their businesses.

With the Philippine food industry showing tremendous growth over the past few years, this is really an opportune time for UFS to support the various chefs all over the country who are being challenged by the increased competition in the market.

The training modules developed for this workshop will specifically focus on Menu Planning and Counting Costs — taught by combining real-life insights with factual knowledge as well as offer hands-on learning — all structured to help the chefs and food operators continuously improve their services and operate more efficiently. Through the session, the chefs will also be sharing important food trends, insights and learnings about running a food business. The training sessions will be led by Executive Chef Joanne Limoanco-Gendrano and her Sous-Chef Carlos Aluning and it will be held at Iloilo and Boracay on July 9 and 12, respectively. The sessions will be attended by professionals from hotels and restaurants in the said locations.
“The Philippines is in a very unique time now. The economy is booming and one of the industries that has benefited from this the most is the food industry,” said Unilever Food Solutions Philippine Managing Director Colin Butler. “I don’t think that there has ever been this many restaurants and food service operators at any time in the history of the Philippines, placing chefs and restaurant owners in an exciting yet extremely challenging position. Competition and pricing are getting stiffer every day.”

With UFS then constantly working with a network of 500 chefs all over the world, the goal is really to be able to make global expertise and local insights readily available to the chefs and restaurateurs of the Philippines.

“The Chefmanship Academy is truly an exciting effort, especially with how our dining landscape is quickly changing. The chefs that we’ve spoken to are all very excited and all have a lot of questions that we hope to help them answer. We’ve really tried our best to tailor-fit this program to be able to enlighten and inspire them – ultimately, the goal is to be able to properly train them to not only be artisans in the kitchen, but to be warriors in business,” said Unilever Food Solutions Marketing Manager Louren Chua.
