Rare DFA photos, memorabilia on exhibit at 'The Philippine Foreign Service: Its Beginnings'
In 1948, there were only around 40 Home Office personnel at the Department of Foreign Affairs at Arlegui. As the number of passport applicants increased the DFA created a separate Office of Consular Affairs which operated at the old Ateneo Law School building along Padre Faura Street.

To learn more about the history of the Philippine Foreign Service, visit the DFA Exhibit on the "Philippine Foreign Service: Its Beginnings." The exhibit will showcase the development of the Philippine Foreign Service for the period 1946 to 1970.
Rare photos of the early Department of Foreign Affairs headquarters will be on display, as well as photos of prominent personalities like Elpidio Quirino, Carlos P. Romulo, Leon Ma. Guerrero, Raul Manglapus, Narciso Ramos and Luis Moreno Salcedo, among others.
Films, documents and memorabilia relevant to the history of the Philippine Foreign Service will likewise be exhibited.
The exhibit will open on July 15 at 4 p.m., and will run until July 26 at the DFA Lobby, DFA Main Building, 2330 Roxas Boulevard, Pasay City.
There will also be a DFA lecture series on Philippine Diplomatic History on July 18 and 24, 2013.
