DTI offers free business and demo-skills training
In celebration of SME Month for this year, the Bureau of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise Development (BMSMED) of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) recently announced that budding entrepreneurs can avail of free business and demo-skills training through its SME Roving Academy – a breeding ground for start-up enterprises helping them to become competitive in the domestic and global markets.
The SME Roving Academy Business Training will be held on 19-20 July 2013, from 8:30am to 5:00pm at the Philippine Trade Training Center (PTTC), International Trade Center Complex, Roxas Boulevard corner Sen. Gil Puyat Avenue, Pasay City.
On Friday, 19 July 2013, the SME trainings will cover the following topics: Cologne and Perfume Making; Bag Accessorizing; Briefing on Packaging and Labeling for Food; Money Changing Business; How to be an Entrepreneur; BMBE Law; Integrated Business Licensing; Business Taxation for SMEs; Basic Photoshop; Basic Photography; Food Cart Business; Setting up a Laundry Business; Coffee Barista; Business Opportunities on Coco Products; Business Plan Preparation; Managing Price Competition; Briefing on Accounting for Non-Accountants; Briefing on Putting Your Business Online; Chocolate Moulding, Mixed Sushi and California Maki for Business; All About Tarts (pili, cheesy tuna, pineapple); Homemade Cookies (oatmeal, chocolate chip, crinkles); Herbal Soapmaking; and Cleaning Aids II (tiles cleaner, glass cleaner, car shampoo).
On Saturday, 20 July 2013, trainings will be on: Holiday Goodies 1 (brownies, butterscotch bars, cappuccino bars); Holiday Goodies 2 (snow balls, food for the gods, fruit cake); Massage Oils; Functional Beadworks and Men’s Accessories; Briefing on Food Safety; Revised FDA Procedures and Requirements; Disaster Resiliency Management; Setting Up and Internet Shop; Online Marketing; Setting Up a Junk Shop Business; Pet Grooming Business; Bag Making from Recycled Materials; Basic Cellphone Repair; How to Market Your Products; Orientation on Intellectual Property Rights (Patents and Trademarks); Franchising as Business Alternative; Retail Management; Meat Processing (Siomai and Hamburger Varieties, Porkchop Tonkatsu); Basic and Advance Meat Processing (special ham for Christmas, tocino for tocilog, tapa for tapsilog, embutido special, chicken inasal); Healthy Meat Products Using Stevia, Street Food Business; T-shirt Printing/Silk Screening (Bring your own t-shirt for the workshop); and Laundry Cleaning Aids (Powder Detergent, Fabric Softener, Dishwashing Liquid).
The annual celebration of SME Month aims to foster awareness of the primacy of small businesses in building the nation and empowering the people. Other related activities will also be undertaken in various parts of the country as other government agencies and private institutions are enjoined to participate in the commemoration of SME Month.
