Have a taste of Turkey at World Food Expo 2013

Made out of fried dough and syrup, Turkish dessert "LOKMA" is one of the featured traditional and easy-to-make desserts at the TFYI Promotion Group cooking demo at the WOFEX 2013.
Food lovers are in for a unique gastronomic experience of Turkish delicacies and gourmet creations with the participation of the Turkish Flour Yeast and Ingredients (TFYI) Promotion Group at the upcoming World Food Expo (WOFEX) 2013, the Philippines’ biggest & most anticipated food show.

The TFYI Promotion Group is an organization of Turkey-based exporters whose primary goal is to promote the “Turkish” brand to the international market.

The TFYI Promotion Group booth will be featured at the WOFEX Marketplace segment of the food expo at the SMX Convention Center in MOA Compound, Pasay City from July 31 to August 3, 2013.

Said TFYI Promotion Group Chairman Turgay Unlu, ”With our members comprising a diverse list of reputable manufacturers and suppliers of wheat flour and other related ingredients for producers of their derivative products like bread, special pastries, cookies and noodles, the TFYI Promotion Group exhibit booth is definitely a must-see for visitors at the WOFEX Marketplace.”

The TFYI Promotion Group’s booth will showcase Turkey’s wheat and wheat flour industry in food displays while the group’s representatives will be on hand to entertain queries from visitors in the four-day event dubbed as “The Ultimate Food Show Experience.”

Expo visitors will have a better appreciation of Turkish culture as they take a bite of free samples of tasty Turkish cookies and other baked goods and delicacies prepared using Turkish flour during the cooking demos to be featured at the booth. Promotional items such as TFYI-branded aprons, bags, and Turkish recipe books will also be given away at the group’s booth.

“We are delighted to take part in the World Food Expo 2013 to create awareness about the history of wheat flour making in Turkey, source of the world’s most sought for wheat flour,” said Unlu. “We want to promote the affordable as well as premium quality Turkish wheat flour to Filipino bakers, food producers, and buyers.”

As a major wheat growing country, Turkey is the world’s top exporter of wheat flour. The country exports its high quality and affordable products to more than a hundred countries around the world, shared Unlu.

Based on the latest data from the United Nations–International Trade Centre, Turkey ranked as the biggest supplier of wheat flour in the world in 2012 with 17 percent market share or US$841.4 million in wheat flour exports.

Turkey is a significant trade partner of the Philippines and Turkish flour plays an important role in keeping bread and noodles at affordable levels in the Philippines. Community bakeries use Turkish flour as ingredient for pandesal and other bread products.

Said Unlu, “We encourage industry leaders and other guests to visit our WOFEX booth to learn more about the Turkish brand—with its value and superior quality which has strengthened the position of the Turkish millers as a global leader in the flour export market.”
