Country’s brightest flock to Cebu for annual Aboitiz future leaders’ summit
All bases are covered for this year’s Aboitiz-led future leaders business summit that will host around 90 promising and talented college students from all over the country at the Marco Polo Plaza in Cebu City on August 16 to 17.
For eight years now, the Aboitiz Group has been organizing this two-day event of fun and learning through activities that enhance the participants’ knowledge on leadership and management in a corporate environment. More than 600 have graduated from the summit since it started.
With this year’s theme, “Significantly Changing My Philippines,” the 8th Aboitiz Future Leaders Business Summit (AFLBS) will feature plenary sessions where top Aboitiz executives from various business industries share their knowledge, expertise, and philosophies that contribute in finding better ways to improve the country’s business landscape.
“These participants are honor students, organization leaders, and achievers who have their own inspiring stories, visionary ideals, and high hopes for the future of this country. We want to impart to them the Aboitiz’s shared value of enriching lives – how businesses can reach out to the communities where they operate,” said Aboitiz Group Senior Vice President and Chief Human Resource Officer Txabi Aboitiz.
Since 2006, the summit, which is considered an avenue in fostering relationships among delegates, team members and building networks with thought leaders, has been a yearly phenomenon that attracts hundreds of applicants.
About 57% of the participants this year are from Luzon, 31% from Visayas, and 12% from Mindanao. Most of these students are in engineering, accountancy, mathematics, business administration, management, economics, marketing, social sciences, information technology, and communications.
AFLBS is part of the Aboitiz Future Talents Program, which opens opportunities for interns and scholars. Acceptance of applications for the 9th AFLBS will start by January 2014.
