UST pays tribute to Filipino Cannes Lion awardees

The six Philippine advertising agencies that won in the 2013 Cannes Lion International Festival of Creativity were featured in a series of lecture and a tribute dinner held at the University of Santo Tomas (UST).

Organized by a group of Advertising students from the College of Fine Arts and Design and the Communication Arts major from the Faculty of Arts and Letters, the series “Ideas that Matter (ITM): We Got Cannes’d” featured the six advertising agencies, DM9 JaymeSyfu, JWT Manila, Saatchi & Saatchi, Y&R Philippines, McCann World Group and TBWA/SMP.

On September 23, Merlee Jayme, chief creative officer of DM9 talked about “How to develop an Integrated Marketing Communication (IMC) strategic mindset” for the IMC Camp while award-winning creative directors, Jake Tesoro of TBWA and Elvin Villa of JWT Manila discussed “How to produce award-winning ideas?” for the Creative Camp on September 25. The lectures provided the Thomasians with inspiration to pursue creative excellence in a global market place. ITM conducted “camps” that featured the creatives from the winning agencies for an interactive creative workshop in partnership with the Association of Advertising Agencies of the Philippines.

The event culminated with a tribute dinner and a showcase of Thomasian talent and creativity to recognize the winning Filipino advertising and marketing communication practitioners on September 27, 2013. The night also paved the way for the students and professors to meet advertising industry leaders and personalities.
