ASEAN University Network meeting tackles quality management
De La Salle University hosted the 6th ASEAN University Network’s Rectors Meeting, which focused on the theme “Driving towards a promising ASEAN society with university quality management,” at the Shangri-La Mactan, Cebu last June 18.
DLSU President and Chancellor Br. Ricardo Laguda FSC delivered the welcome remarks for the event, which was attended by the presidents, rectors, vice chancellors, and resource persons of AUN member universities.
The meeting featured a lecture on world-class quality management, particularly on the case of National University of Singapore, by its Deputy President for Academic Affairs and Provost, Prof. Tan Eng Chye.
Participants conducted workshops on how to move from program assessment to institutional assessment; AUN credit transfer, which seeks to promote and facilitate student and academic mobility; ASEAN student leader forum; and the establishment of the AUN health promotion sub-network.
DLSU also hosted the 30th AUN Board of Trustees Meeting on June 19-20, which discussed, among others, the status of the implementation of programs and activities within ASEAN and with its partners.
The AUN is a network of 30 leading universities and institutions of higher learning in the region that seeks to develop a regional identity through the promotion of human resource development. DLSU is a founding a member of AUN.
In the AUN Board, the current and only Philippine representative is the President and Chancellor of DLSU, Br. Ricardo Laguda FSC. The two other Philippine universities in the AUN are Ateneo de Manila University and University of the Philippines.
