DTI promotes creative industry through art fair

A selection of paintings, sculptures, literature, and other art pieces will be featured at the National Art Fair, the first free to be sponsored by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).

“In venturing in this fair for the first time, the DTI does not only seek to position the creative industry in the domestic market but also to make Filipinos engage in this promising industry,” said DTI Undersecretary Ponciano C. Manalo Jr..

From Sept. 26 to 28 at SM Megamall Megatrade Halls 1 and 2, the public may participate in book launches and watch live bands and performance art.

A gallery of works set by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts and recipients of the Gawad sa Manlilikha ng Bayan will make an appearance alongside art galleries, art organizations, and non-government organizations.

Crafts from all regions of the Philippines and artists will also be on sale.

“With various art pieces displayed in the fair, the DTI expects to expand the market of art pieces of established artists, and at the same time, inspire budding artists and entrepreneurs to start a business in the creative industry,” Manalo said.
