Malate Catholic School kicks off 3-year celebration of centennial

The three-year countdown to Malate Catholic School's centennial will officially begin this November, gathering students and alumni alike, as well as the faculty and non-teaching staff that have kept the institution's quality Catholic teaching tradition alive since it was established in 1917.
On November 14, Saturday, the festivities will kick off with a grand motorcade featuring Batch 1991 Silver Jubilee alumni, who will be celebrating their 25th year as MCS graduates, as well as other alumni, school officials, students, and members of the Parents, Teachers, and Administration Council (PTAC), who headed preparations for the motorcade.
The motorcade at 7 a.m. will run through Manila, Pasay, and Makati, aiming to get everyone on track with the jam-packed celebrations lined up from 2015 leading to the Grand Centennial Celebration on 2017.
The main highlight of the first part of the three-year celebration for MCS' centennial will be the blessing through a Holy Mass starting at 1 p.m. at the Jaime Cardinal Sin Gymnasium headed by His Eminence Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle D.D.
Adding to the blessing brought by the Holy Eucharistic Celebration is the unveiling of the 25th Year seal of the Religious of the Virgin Mary's (RVM) presence in Malate Catholic School. The Columban Sisters turned over the management of the school to the RVM Congregation in 1990, leading to many accomplishments for Malateans, including a consistent accreditation from the Philippine Accrediting Association of Schools, Colleges, and Universities (PAASCU), among others.
A Kickoff Night at 7 p.m. filled with performances, food, games, and other surprises will put a fitting end to the first phase of the three-year centennial celebration for MCS. Set to perform are singer-actor Lance Raymundo, singer Faith Cuneta, and singer-actress Kuh Ledesma. Both Cuneta and Ledesma are proud graduates of the school. Also featured in the program are other talented students of MCS.
Promoting social responsibility and a Christ-centered school community for service, all proceeds from a day full of meaningful celebration and fun activities will go to a fund for Malate Catholic School's Centennial Scholars, as well as for the renovation of the Jaime Cardinal Sin Gymnasium, which will be a prime venue for the showcase of sports and performing arts.
