GMA Kapuso Foundation, AFP sign MOA to beef up partnership

GMA Kapuso Foundation on Monday signed a memorandum of agreement with the Armed Forces of the Philippines to continue their partnership in bringing assistance to those who need it.

The signing was led by GMA Network Inc. CEO Atty. Felipe L. Gozon, veteran broadcaster and GMAKF Ambassador Mel Tiangco, GMAKF President Gilberto Duavit Jr., and GMAKF EVP and COO Rikki Escudero-Catibog.

Navy Vice Admiral Narciso Vingson said the signing of the MOA will "further reinforce" their commitment to support GMA Kapuso Foundation, which they have been doing since it was established in 1991.

"We have reinforced our commitment to support the GMA Kapuso Foundation, although we have been doing this for a long time ever since the GMA Kapuso has been established and founded, but the signing of the MOA will further reinforce our commitment  to this worthwhile organization," Vingson said.

Meanwhile, Gozon returned the commendations, saying the AFP plays a big role in aiding the Kapuso Foundation.

"Well, unang-una tayo ay nagpapasalamat sa Armed Forces of the Philippines dahil napakalaking tulong nila sa ating ginagawang pag-tulong sa ating kapwa through our foundation, at gaya ng sinabi ko kanina, ang pinaka-masarap at pinaka-importanteng trabaho, eh hindi 'yong pumatay ng tao, kumita ng pera, tumaas ang rating, kung hindi tumulong doon sa mga talagang nangangailangan ng tulong," Gozon said.

Escudero-Catibog, for her part, expressed her gratitude toward the long-term partnership between AFP and GMAFK, saying the MOA merely means there will be more projects to be expected in the future to continue their service to those in need.

She also revealed some of the upcoming projects, including infrastructure plans, they have lined up with the AFP that may start this year.

"We have infrastructure projects that are already lined up and hopefully we will be able to start this year," she said.

"Kasi ang AFP helps insofar as manpower is concerned. And then very consistent naman ang help nila sa disaster relief anytime na merong mangyaring trahedya sa Pilipinas, man-made or natural calamity," Escudero-Catibog added. —KBK, GMA News
