KRITIKA 2019 fellows and panelists announced

Six fellowships have been awarded for the 9th KRITIKA La Salle National Workshop on Art and Cultural Criticism, which was held from February 7 to 9, 2019 at the Philippe Jones Lhuillier Conference Room, 14F Henry Sy Sr. Hall, De La Salle University, Manila.

KRITIKA is a workshop in criticism covering various arts and cultural practices, including literature, visual arts, multi-media, food and popular culture, heritage preservation, and cinema.

In this workshop, established art critics and talented young scholars gathered to form an intellectual community. In line with contemporary critical practice, KRITIKA retains interdisciplinary ways of approaching artistic and cultural texts. This practice is enriched by the creative integration of concepts and approaches from diverse disciplines.

The 2019 fellows are Cecille N. Baello (film); Jose Justin P. Mojica (film); Chris David F. Lao (literature); Christine Marie L. Magpile (food and popular culture); Denise Angela S. De Vera (popular culture); and Jose Reylan B. Viray (visual arts).

Rolando B. Tolentino, associate for criticism of DLSU Bienvenido N. Santos Creative Writing Center, is workshop director. He was supported by a distinguished panel of experts: art critic and artist Cid Reyes; critic and poet Shirley O. Lua, historian and dramatist Jose Victor Z. Torres; and critic and poet Carlos M. Piocos III.

KRITIKA was organized by the Bienvenido N. Santos Creative Writing Center and was supported by the DLSU Angelo King Institute for Economics and Business Studies and the DLSU Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and Innovation.
