• Labor leader and senatorial candidate Sonny Matula and the Workers and Peasants Party (WPP) filed a petition before the Commission on Elections on October 16, 2024 to cancel Quiboloy’s certificate of candidacy for material misrepresentation. According to the petition, Quiboloy’s nomination as WPP’s candidate for senator “had no factual and legal basis and, his CONA, was made by unauthorized persons.” The party said Quiboloy is neither a party member or a guest candidate.
• In Comelec’s initial list of senatorial aspirants, both Matula and Quiboloy are listed as WPP bets. 
• On October 21, 2024, Quiboloy’s legal counsel Mark Tolentino said his client will now run as an independent candidate after sending a letter to Comelec revoking his certificate of nomination and acceptance as WPP candidate.
