Viloria dedicates victory to mudslide victims

Filipino-American boxer Brian Viloria dedicated his victory on Sunday to the landslide victims in St. Berbard, Southern, Leyte. Viloria defended his World Boxing Council light flyweight crown on Sunday with a 12-round unanimous decision over Mexico's Jose Antonio Aguirre. In an interview made by Filipino Sports commentator Chino Trinidad, who watched the fight in Las Vegas, Viloria expressed sadness about the tragedy. “Alam ni Viloria na mayroon masamang balita na nangyari d’yan sa atin kaya dini-dedicate niya ang panalo niya sa mga napinsala natinng kababayan. At kahit papaano ay mayroon naman tayong magandang balita," Trinidad said over GMA Flash report. Trinidad added that Viloria’s challenger (Aguirre), a former minimum weight title holder from 2000 to 2004, was not an easy opponent. Trinidad said, Viloria was almost knocked down in the third round after Aguirre lunched a barrage of punches in the body and head of the Fil-Am fighter. However, Viloria managed to control the fight from the seventh until the last round. Viloria made his first defense of the title he won in a shocking first-round knockout of Eric Ortiz in September. He improved his record of 19-0 with 12 KOs. Two judges scored the fight 116-112 and the third made it 117-111 all in favor of Viloria. -GMANEWS.TV
