Fake bill used to pay fare leads to arrest of 2 gangsters
MANILA, Philippines â A 200-peso bill (US$4.23) used to pay for a jeepney (minibus) ride led to the arrest of a suspected member of a gang spreading fake bills in the central Philippines, a report said. Online news site Visayan Daily Star (www.visayandailystar.com) said Jimmy Infante, 19, was arrested by police in Bacolod City after the driver discovered that he was given a fake bill. The report quoted police as saying Infante and his companion Romelo Saragoza rode the jeepney of Melchor Junas from Talisay City last Saturday, and used a P200 bill to pay for fare. Police caught Infante as he was using another fake P200 bill in buying mangoes. Following Infanteâs arrest, Saragoza surrendered Monday to the police to clear his name.
