Women will pick men over money unless unemployed — survey
Love conquers all â unless youâre unemployed. According to a report from Reuters, 91 percent of women would rather marry for love than money, but thereâs a catch. Three out of four women surveyed would not marry someone without a job while 65 percent would feel uncomfortable getting hitched if they didnât have a job themselves. âIt is ironic that women place more weight on love than money, yet won't marry if they or their potential suitor is unemployed," said Meghan Casserly of ForbesWoman which did the survey with YourTango.com. Most or 77 percent of the women surveyed believe that they could have it all â a good relationship and family life, and an amazing career to boot, Casserly added. âThe career is really taking the No. 1 position for working women," Casserly said. âIt's pretty ironic that this number of women believes they can have everything. How? When?" Sixty three percent of the women surveyed worked 40-59 hours a week and the 62 percent who were already in a relationship said that they spent only three waking hours at most with their partners during the work week. With their extra time â an extra hour every day â 42 percent of the respondents said they would rather spend alone with their partners, friends, family or work. The results get even more interesting. In the poll of 625 women, two of five who were in a relationship said their job would likely keep them up at night. The singles on the other hand, said that both work responsibilities and their love life were likely to keep them awake. A third of those surveyed said that they made more than their partners and half said that they were fine with marrying someone who earned less than they did. Half of women also said they were willing to sacrifice their career for their children should their partner ask them to do so, but only 28 percent would ask their partners to do the same. â With Reuters/Bea Cupin/VS, GMA
