Ashton Kutcher's FourSquare, Twitter hacked
Hackers broke into the FourSquare and Twitter accounts of actor Ashton Kutcher, claiming to confirm he was in a romantic relationship with Lorene Scafaria.
The messages on Kutcher's FourSquare and Twitter accounts claimed he had his "first official sleepover" with Scafaria, computer security firm Sophos said.
Another message invited followers to check out Scafaria's house, it said.
"It appears ... Kutcher had fallen victim to a hack. Specifically, it looks like Kutcher's Foursquare account (which is connected to his Twitter account) may have been compromised, allowing the hacker to claim to be the actor checking into locations, and for them to be then tweeted to his millions of fans," Sophos said.
Kutcher has since removed the offending tweets, Sophos said. As of Monday morning, the tweets appeared to be removed from Kutcher's Twitter account (http://twitter.com/aplusk).
Sophos said it "took some six hours for the star to notice and take any action."
"A hack like this could be embarrassing for anyone, but it really must feel particularly galling when you're someone like Kutcher who has made no secret of publicly investing in the Foursquare company," it noted.
Sophos also said Kutcher posted some messages that were subsequently deleted to his Twitter account, acknowledging the hack.
"Ok mr hacker, you only made one mistake. You hacked my Foursquare and I now know your address. Whoops.... This is gonna be fun," Sophos cited another post by Kutcher.
But as of 11 a.m. Monday (Manila time), only one message apparently related to the hack could be seen on Kutcher's account - a map showing where the hacker could be located
"I'm coming for you my friend .... #hacker," read the message.
Sophos noted this was not the first time Kutcher's Twitter account was attacked.
"Last year, for instance, the star was outfoxed by a hacker using the Firesheep tool. While attending a TED conference in Long Beach, California, the actor's Twitter account was hijacked by someone who posted pro-SSL graffiti (an attack that could have been easily avoided)," it said. — TJD, GMA News
