Google+ allows global broadcasts on 'Hangouts'

Users of Google’s social network Google+ can now broadcast their conversation to the world after the network’s “Hangouts On Air” feature went global. Engineering director Chee Chew said that while Hangouts On Air was launched last year, it was available to a limited number of broadcasters, enabling them to go live with friends and fans. “Today we’re excited to launch Hangouts On Air to Google+ users worldwide. So if you have something to say – as an aspiring artist, a global celebrity, or a concerned citizen – you can now go live in front of a global audience,” he said. He said “Hangouts on Air” will enable Google+ users to:

- Broadcast publicly: broadcasting a live hangout from the Google+ stream, one’s YouTube channel or one’s website to the entire world. - See how many viewers are watching live. - Record and re-share: Google will upload a public recording to one’s YouTube channel, and to one’s original Google+ post.
The new feature can also allow live concerts from one’s living room and roundtables about any topic, as well as face-to-face meet-ups with fans, he said. Chew said Google will be rolling out Hangouts On Air gradually, over the next few weeks. — LBG, GMA News
