Hitler finds out about iOS6 Maps
Apple, Hitler wants a word with you. It isn't every day that a tech darling like Apple Inc. finds itself at the receiving end of vicious, sarcastic Internet jokes about its products and services —but that was exactly what happened to its iOS 6 Maps app.
You know you've broken the Internet when you're the butt of meme jokes, especially the infamous Hitler Finds Out meme.
Some YouTube users made fun of Maps by uploading a part of the 2004 World War II film "Downfall" that depicted Nazi leader Adolf Hitler fuming before his senior officers —with the subtitles poking fun at iOS 6 Maps' shortcomings.
One version had Hitler fuming at Maps' calling Berlin "the Burger Linen," with one of his officers suggesting that they "plant Apple devices on the Russians here to make sure they never find us."
The video also showed Hitler continuing to rant at iOS 6 Maps, saying it even listed his house as a fountain in Austria - and even making a pitch of sorts for Apple's bitter rival Samsung.
"That's why I wanted Samsung phones. They don't look sexy but the maps dont send me to the Phillipines (sic)," the subtitles depicted him as saying in the video.
"How could they screw this up so bad? They sue everyone for rounded corners, now no one can find a f** corner," he added - a reference to the patent war between Apple and Samsung.
When an officer suggested that the iPhones were meant to help soldiers' morale, he replied, "the soldiers need to know where they are, you idiot."
In another version, a similar clip from "Downfall" was used, but this time with the subtitles suggesting Hitler had put up with past screw-ups such as "Antennagate and no custom ringtones."
"For five years now I have been a loyal iPhone customer. Through all the b***s**t through antennagate and no custom ringtones," he said.
The video ended with him ordering his officers to open the Safari browser on his iPhone, go to the Google Maps home screen, and "save it to my homescreen." "It will have to do for now," he added. — TJD, GMA News
