Art kit lets couples create abstract art via sex
Here's a daring holiday gift suggestion for couples who want to explore their creative side: the "Love Is Art" abstract art kit.
The kit, which lets couples create an abstract art work by being intimate with each other, is a project by South African-born artist Jeremy Brown.
"Art takes patience, dedication, practice, creativity, an open mind, and an open heart...so does love. Love is art," Brown said on the Love is Art website.
The kit, which the blog "If it's Hip it's Here" said has been getting rave reviews, consists of a mat and paint. Newer kits now include new colors and textures such as red, white and monochromatic tints such as copper and silver, according to the blog.
Couples may also choose to support a cause by getting kits with equality themed stencils.
Fifteen percent of proceeds from the equality kits will be donated to the Human Rights Campaign, a lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender civil rights organization, the blog said.
According to the Love is Art website, the materials are researched and developed to ensure safety. They include a non-allergenic cotton canvas and specially-formulated non-toxic, washable paint.
Couples can create their own art work by rolling the plastic tarp on the floor, placing the canvas on top of the plastic sheet, and pouring the paint on the canvas.
By being intimate with each other, the couple can create a unique abstract painting, which they can also display as "a reminder of the love that was shared," the website said.
"The kit also provides a unique bonding experience for the couples involved, as they work together as a team to craft their own unique masterpeice," the website said. Each kit costs $65 to $89, though prices of custom kits may vary.
Photos of the results can be uploaded to social networking sites including Pinterest, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
Brown is also working on a book titled "Capture The Love - Vol. 1," which will contain the highest-favored pictures submitted to capturethelove, an iPhone App that maps Love is Art projects all over the world. –Carmela G. Lapeña/KG, GMA News
