Following his knockout loss to Juan Manuel Marquez on December 9, Filipino boxing champ and Sarangani Rep. Emmanuel "Manny" Pacquiao found himself restored to being a pop culture icon —but perhaps not quite in the way he would have expected.

 

Few images in recent sporting history are as dumbfounding as the image of a knocked-out Pacquiao lying face down during the sixth round of his bout with Juan Manuel Marquez last Sunday.

 

It was inevitable then that the photo would take on a life of its own in the hands of netizens to become a full-fledged meme in its own right:
