Google+ enables animated gifs for profile pics

Why use a static photo as your profile pic when you can now use an animated GIF file instead?

 

Google+, Google's social network, will display the animation when a member's profile is viewed from a desktop computer or a mobile device, software engineer Matt Steiner said.

 

"You can now use an animated gif for your profile photo!  It will animate on the profile page on both desktop and mobile," Steiner said in a post on his Google+ page.

 

Steiner even posted a GIF photo of himself to prove his point.

 

A separate article on tech site Mashable said the update came a week after Google added a search filter for GIFs and transparent images.

 

Google also updated its apps for iOS and Android mobile devices, to include photo editing and filter features. — TJD, GMA News
