Steve Jobs manga bio coming soon
Nearly two years after his death, Apple Inc. co-founder Steve Jobs continues to get accolades for his tech vision —and is now getting the ultimate Japanese tribute in the form of a biographic comic.
Apple enthusiast site AppleInsider this week reported a 14-page preview of the manga was posted online Monday by Japanese manga publishing house Kodansha.
"Reportedly recognized as the official adaptation of Walter Isaacson's authorized biography, the comic is being penned by noted manga artist and winner of the Manga Taishō and a Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize, Mari Yamazaki," it said.
It said the first panels give a glimpse of how Yamazaki plans to tell the story of Jobs, who died in late 2011.
Other panels show Isaacson "describing his first impressions of Jobs, an early interview session, and background that sets the stage for the manga's coming installations," it added.
The panels were also posted on Yahoo Japan's online bookstore, AppleInsider said.
It added the first chapter hit store shelves Monday, in the April issue of the company's Kiss magazine. AppleInsider noted Kiss is a monthly Josei manga serial, or "a publication targeting the young adult to adult female demographic."
The "Steve Jobs" series will continue in Kiss next month, it added.
A separate article on The Next Web said the preview of the manga started with a rare detailed color page and an art style "that is more realistic than most contemporary anime."
"Notably, each page only holds three or four panels, which is likely a restraint created by the smaller page format used for manga serializations in Japan," it said. — TJD, GMA News
