Man films himself getting hit by lightning
A storm chaser got a bit more than what he bargained for while shooting a video of a storm in South Dakota, USA, last May.
Scott Sheppard was shooting video from inside his vehicle when lightning struck him, Severe Studios said in a YouTube post.
"The strike hit his arm and then traveled down to the ground and blew a hole in the pavement. The lightning also disabled his vehicle and a passing car, both of which had to be towed. Scott has a sore arm but is otherwise OK" the studio said.
But a separate report on Weather.com noted Sheppard still managed to get the entire incident on video.
Weather.com quoted the Centers for Disease Control and lightning researcher Ron Holle as indicating lightning kills some 100 people in the U.S. every year.
"However, it is believed that 90 percent of strike victims survive," it added. — Joel Locsin/TJD, GMA News
