Video calls come to Viber

Good news for users of popular mobile messaging app Viber: You can now make video calls to your friends.

Viber on Thursday rolled out an update allowing the video calls in its apps for devices running Google's Android and Apple's iOS.

It also allows free calls with HD sound quality and the ability to sort and reorder stickers.

"Push notifications guarantee that you never miss a message or call, even when Viber is off," it said.

Also, it cited integration with native contact list for calls and messages.

Video calls may be made from a phone to other Viber contacts on mobile or Desktop. In Viber's description on its iOS app, it said one can also transfer video calls between mobile and Desktop.

Viber claims to have more than 400 million Viber users who use its text, call, and photo and video messaging platform over Wifi or 3G for free.

They can also use Viber Out to make calls to non-Viber mobile and landline numbers at low rates. — Joel Locsin/JDS, GMA News
