Two models blackmailed after posing nude on Facebook, Skype
What started out as a potentially lucrative photoshoot turned into a nightmare for two models who posed nude for a magazine but ended up being blackmailed.
The two, aged 26 and 28, have sought help from the National Bureau of Investigation, GMA News' John Consulta reported on "24 Oras."
According to the two, they were promised $7,000 or P300,000 for a photo shoot supposedly for a magazine in Europe. They said fellow models "endorsed" the racket to them.
Both were "invited" to the photo shoot of a supposed international magazine in Boracay.
For nearly two months, the two took video and photo shoots with the "organizers" remotely via Skype and Facebook.
The organizers eventually asked them to pose nude and they complied.
But it was not until they were supposed to meet with the organizers that they felt something was wrong.
One of the models said that when the organizer no longer returned their text messages, she found her social media accounts had been hacked.
"Sabi pag nagsumbong ako ise-send lahat na photos sa family and friends," she said.
National Bureau of Investigation Anti-Cybercrime Division head Ronald Aguto said the syndicate behind the incident would likely sell the nude photos abroad.
"In extreme cases hindi material bagay ang hinihingi, gusto makipag... eyeball," he said.
The NBI urged models who fell victim to such a racket to file complaints.
It also reminded Filipinos to be careful in using the Internet so they would not be victimized. —Joel Locsin/NB/TJD, GMA News
