'Hugot lines' amid stormy weather draw laughs online


The Filipino humor is waterproof.
 
With Metro Manila and large parts of Luzon under stormy skies the past few days, "hugot lines" about love and the weather became a hit among Filipino netizens.
 
The comedy account Senyora Santibañez, which posts memes based as the antagonist of the Mexican telenovela "Marimar," posted a series of tweets directed at the official account of state weather agency PAGASA linking the inclement weather to a stormy relationship.
 
Each of the tweets garnered more than a thousand likes and retweets. A screenshot of the posts was posted on Facebook and when viral as well, getting nearly 13,000 likes and more than a thousand shares some two hours after being posted.
