GrabCar driver leaves suspicious passenger awestruck with kindness

Gelica Manuel Tulauan has grown leery of taking regular taxi cabs because of violent and boorish cabbies making the news.

Thus, when the driver of the GrabCar she took over the weekend stopped, took something from under his seat and went out of the car, she prepared for the worst.

What GrabCar driver Carlo Santiago Diaz did afterwards made Tulauan feel a bit embarassed.

Diaz had gone up to a homeless woman to give her food. When Diaz returned to his car, Tulauan asked him about the deed.

She learned that Diaz, along with his girlfriend and his friends, usually cooked food for people on the streets.

They also give away used clothes and blankets, either on duty or on days when they have time to go around and extend help where it's needed.

"Araw-araw kasi, magda-drive ka, makikita mo sila lalo na sa gabi na nakahiga sa bangketa. Madalas mga gutom, pero itinutulog na lang yung gutom nila," Diaz told her.

"Kaya naisip naming gawin `to. Para at least, makatulong kaming malamnan yung mga tiyan nila kahit isang gabi lang," Tuluauan further quoted Diaz as saying.

He added that while he understands that this is the government's duty, he just couldn't sit around and wait.
