Celebrities offer apology to British tourist in viral ‘worst vacation’ video in El Nido

Filipinos who watched the video uploaded by Elayne Peddy about the "worst four days of her life" in El Nido, Palawan were quick to offer apologies to the British national and celebrities immediately condemned the behavior detailed in her story.

YouTube celebrity Mikey Bustos left a comment on her video, saying he "loathes the rude, disgusting, and archaic" practice of fat-shaming and dark-skin-shaming. He also volunteered to tour her around Manila if she decides to return.

Daphne Oseña-Paez expressed disappointment over the "ignorance" and "insensitivity" of the people Peddy encountered. Blogger Chuvaness also sent apologies.

On Twitter, Singer and actor Mark Bautista created the hashtag #PhilippinesSorryforElayne, encouraging his followers to send love to Peddy.

Meanwhile, Cosmo.ph penned an apology letter, saying:

Never let the hateful words you heard define you, or diminish what you think of yourself, as a woman and as a human being. We also hope that one day, we can make it up to you—that you can give this amazing country another chance, because despite what you went through, everything they say about Pinoys being hospitable and warm is also true. And if you choose to retract your decision to never visit the Philippines again, please give us a heads up on social media. If the hundreds of apologies from Filipinos under your video are any indication, we have a feeling you’re going to have “more fun in the Philippines” the second time around.

For her part, Peddy expressed gratitude for all the love she received after she posted the video.
