Durant's Warriors move compared to Seth Rollins' betrayal of The Shield in WWE

Kevin Durant's move from Oklahoma City to the Golden State Warriors on Monday (Tuesday morning PHL time) rocked NBA fans and prompted accusations of betrayal from Thunders loyalists.

While some opted to follow the internet protocol of crying betrayal on sports websites and Twitter, video-savvy fans decided to express their feelings through funny videos.

In a video gone viral on Facebook, Durant's face was superimposed on the body of WWE superstar Seth Rollins when the latter turned heel on The Shield to join the Authority.

While Durant was cast as Rollins, his teammates Russell Westbrook and Steven Adams were stuck in the roles of Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns.

Warriors coach Steve Kerr played the Authority head honcho Triple H while Randy Orton was substituted with Stephen Curry, who welcomed Durant to the team with open arms.

Durant's choice to join the team that knocked the Thunder off the 2016 Western Conference Finals was compared to the heel turn that split of one of the WWE's hottest stables in 2014.

His reasons for the move were also compared to Rollins' justification for the break-up.

Rollins, in a segment with announcer Michael Cole on Raw in 2014, explained:

"I took The Shield to the very top, as high as we could go. We beat everybody, all right? We conquered the world, Michael. At 'Payback', we beat Evolution in a clean sweep. And with every experience in life you should learn something and you know what I learned from Evolution? I learned that to be a success in this business, you have to evolve. You have to adapt. No, no, no, no, I bought in. I bought in to the evolution of Seth Rollins."

Durant wrote on The Player's Tribune:

"The primary mandate I had for myself in making this decision was to have it based on the potential for my growth as a player — as that has always steered me in the right direction. But I am also at a point in my life where it is of equal importance to find an opportunity that encourages my evolution as a man: moving out of my comfort zone to a new city and community which offers the greatest potential for my contribution and personal growth."

There was also a gif of Durant as Shawn Michaels in the moment he superkicked Marty Jannetty - Westbrook, in this case- to end their long-time partnership.

As Fansided notes, time would tell if Durant's split with the Thunder would yield the same success as Rollins' turn did for his career. —Rie Takumi/JST, GMA News
