Artist evokes ‘Spoliarium’ in depiction of #CardboardJustice
Another artist has joined the #CardboardJustice movement on social media, this time taking inspiration from Juan Luna's landmark painting, "Spoliarium."
Patricia Ramos posted the illustration on Tuesday, gathering over 2,100 shares on Facebook.
Instead of gladiators dragging slaves out of an arena, Ramos' drawing shows bodies covered in cardboard being dragged near a police station. A woman is seen crying in a corner.
Facebook user Moises Salting commented, "Duterteliarium."
"Accurate af [as f*ck]," said another user, Jose Miguel Mencias.
In between praises for the work, user EJ Rizal commented, "Most of the killings are done by [s]yndicates and corrupt police silencing their potential 'rats' who know too much."
"Palib[h]asa clueless mga sensitive Pinoy sa nangyari/nangyayari sa Mexico. Or ang new state ng Col[o]mbia post-drug Cartels," he added.
Other artists like Israel Bobadilla, Rob Cham, and the account Huhsmile have also created widely circulated art as commentary on the recent string of alleged extrajudicial killings on social media. — RSJ, GMA News
