Clinic rescues cat with fur so matted it looked like tentacles
The Animal Rescue League Shelter & Wildlife Center in Pennsylvania posted on Saturday a photo of a cat whose fur had began to look like tentacles because of severe matting.
The cat was brought to the clinic after its elderly owner had moved to an nursing home.
"She suffered from severe matting (dreadlocks, really), the likes of which had been neglected for years," their post read.
"Our Medical team shaved off the pounds of intertwined fur from her body (and) needless to say, this cat is feeling so much better now!" the post continued.
The cat is now being cared for by a distant relative of the previous owner with "a chance at a happy (and) healthy life."
The Animal Rescue League Shelter & Wildlife Center advised people to keep the pets of elderly in mind, as these animals also need care and attention.
"Please remember to not only check on the elderly in your community, but also check on their animals to prevent instances like this from happening in the future," the post concluded. — Aya Tantiangco/RSJ, GMA News
