Comedian Jo Koy waxes funny about having Pinoy heritage in Netflix special

A veteran of the United States stand-up comedy circuit, Jo Koy or Joseph Glenn Herbert has made a career out of cracking wise about his mixed American and Filipino heritage and his latest comedy special is no different.

The Filipino comic made an affectionate potshot at how his mother and father, an Air Force vet, met in the preview for his hour-long Netflix special on March 28.

"A lot of soldiers were fighting for this country; my dad was dating," Jo Koy remarked.

The comic followed it up with praise for his mother and a quick joke about how Filipino comedians don't make much in the Philippines.

Jo Koy, along with Rex Navarette and Rob Schneider, were stand-up comics of Filipino heritage who broke out on the US comedy scene in the 1990s.

Apart from touring, Jo Koy also maintains a Youtube channel where his Filipina mother would occasionally turn up.
