Ivanka Trump served hotdog with marshmallow on a stick at daughter's party, unwittingly disconcerts people
For some Pinoys, it isn't quite a party if there aren't bite-sized hotdogs and marshmallows on a stick blooming from a watermelon. The sweet and savory combo might not please everyone, but it's not something to raise eyebrows about...unless, of course, you're new to the culture.
Youth lifestyle magazine Teen Vogue on Wednesday documented a bit of confusion on the other side of the globe as Ivanka Trump, daughter of US President Donald Trump, snapped a photo of these "healthy" treats served.
Some Twitter users thought this was a sign that it's a mistake to put faith in the Trump family, while others wondered if hotdogs and marshmallows really go together on a skewer like this.
Pinoys, however, immediately knew what was up. BuzzFeed Philippines' Matt Ortile, for example, asked the right question: Did Ivanka throw a Filipino birthday party for her daughter Arabella?

They do have spaghetti on the table (noodles, for long life!), but we can't confirm it if it's sweet style.

Over at the comments section of Teen Vogue's article, well-meaning Filipinos clarified that the dish does exist, but explained that it's more "popular" than "traditional... and it's probably not the next big thing that "next great American cuisine" from the Philippines that mother publication Vogue was talking about. — AT/LA, GMA News
