A beer ad that features empowered Filipinas has gone viral
Is this something of a makeup for that billboard campaign a few months ago that many women found to be in bad taste?
A video released by San Mig Light Drinkers on their Facebook page drew cheers from netizens when the brewery giant featured empowering Filipina women from various industries. Needless to say, it went viral.
The video started with the word "Binibini" fading in a black background, followed by the phrases, "Minsan, magandang kanta", referring to the hit OPM classic by the same title, and "Minsan, magandang Filipina."
A revived version of the song "Binibini" played as the video showed women doing their own thing in jobs that are perceived to be male-dominated.
The twist? The ad featured real-life MMA fighter Rome Trinidad, chemical engineer Diane Lesiguez, Firefighter Jessa Bondoc, pilot Chezka Gonzales-Garrido and Guitar Ensemble Triple Fret.
It ended with all these women finishing their day with a cap of San Mig Light.
The video has already garnered over 1.4 million views, 38,000 reactions and 4,000 shares as of this writing. — Jannielyn Ann Bigtas/LA, GMA News
