Filipino netizens are well-known for making the most hilarious, rib-tickling memes wielding their intelligent wit, creativity and funny editing skills.

They put fun even during the most serious occurrences, from Filipino TV series to political personalities, celebrities, movies and viral videos online.

Here's a compilation of some of the funniest memes this 2017 which had been used to convey several phenomenon that the meme accurately represents.

1. Georgia's nerf gun from "Ika-6 Na Utos"

Scenes from GMA Network's afternoon drama series "Ika-6 Na Utos" has been the talk of the town because of its hilarious script, props and execution of scenes.

In one of its episodes, Georgia (Ryza Cenon) encountered her rival Emma (Sunshine Dizon) in a baby store. Fighting over a baby stroller with their baby bumps in sight, Georgia used a Nerf gun to attack Emma which caught the netizens' attention and tickled their funny bones.

It has been used as one of the most popular memes, some illustrated it in comics.

2. 'Selfie King' Bong Go

Special Assistant to the President Bong Go took a lot of selfies during the 31st ASEAN Summit, which caught the attention of both the press and the netizens. A Facebook page called "Photo by SAP Bong Go" was created, to allow users to put a Bong Go selfie frame onto their profile photos.

The template has been popularly used in some of the netizens profile pictures for fun. Even Go himself used the template.

3. Kris Aquino's quotes

It was a successful shift to digital for "Queen of All Media" Kris Aquino. Helping her stake a digital claim were all her quotable quotes  from her webisodes that netizens were able to relate to so much, they made memes out of them. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Her iconic photo dressed in a lavish gown dipping in a pool, in particular went massively viral, sparking more — you guessed it — memes.

4. Bimby's "omgirsmp"

It wasn't just Kris who went viral this year. Her son Bimby also took over news feeds thanks to his iconic statements. One of the trendiest phrases of the year came from Bimby: "omgirsmp", which he uttered at an interview when asked about his mom's love life. Spelled out, it means, "Oh my god I remember so many people". 

 

5. "Ganda ka?" from the Mean Girls Tagalog version

The 2004 chick flick "Mean Girls" trended among Filipino netizens, thanks to Macoy Averilla who dubbed the some scenes of the popular movie in Tagalog. Some of the phrases became prime meme material. We mean: "Ganda ka?"

 


6. Statements from Assistant Secretary Mocha Uson

At a Senate hearing, Assistant Secretary Mocha Uson uttered a few candid statements that netizens have used in creative ways.

 

 

 

7. Yael Yuzon's animated reaction at #TheWanforAnne wedding

Sponge Cola lead vocalist Yael Yuzon was caught on camera with his face animatedly contorting to several reactions as TV host Marc Nelson performed a hot lap dance at the reception of the wedding of Anne Curtis and Erwan Heussaff.

His face made it to 9gag's Facebook page, garnering over 9 million views, his reaction that spread nothing but good vibes has turned into memes.

 

8.  Tassel Girl

This one can't be missed: Kat Galang a.k.a. Tassel Girl went viral online with her funny song covers of heartbreak songs. With the intent of marketing the product, she wore pair of tassel earrings hand-crafted by her friend as she sang on cam. Little did she know, she'd accomplish more than market the product. 

9. Zark's Burger mob

Burger lovers went crazy when Zark's Burger offered P8-burgers to celebrate its eighth anniversary.

Photos of the mob running and struggling to get their cheap burgers went viral it's not rocket science how they turned into a meme.

 

 

10. Ariel commercial

Detergent line Ariel is popular for its catchy ads, and in one of their latest commercials, they featured a fire woman narrating how she washes her white t-shirt she used during rescue missions. Her phrase "Dun mo marealize ang dumi mo pala" has been used as memes by netizens.
