Wil Dasovich shares secrets to staying positive — and his cancer treatment results

Vlogger Wil Dasovich on Friday posted an update on his big surgery and his journey fighting cancer through a video titled "Life Determined by a Phone Call (EMOTIONAL)."

Wil, 25, was diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer in September 2017. He continued to vlog as he faced one of the biggest challenges of his life. "Literally the challenge to keep my life and stay alive," he said.

At the end of the video, Wil is seen with two family members listening to the result of the operation. The woman on the other end of the line said that the results were "good" and that all 25 lymph nodes tested negative.

She added that it was almost certain that the read would be that there would be no need for further treatment and Wil would just be under surveillance for any recurrence.

The long journey

In the 13-minute long video, Wil shared clips of his travels and the things that motivated him to stay strong. He added that the reason he remained positive through it all is because he never considered failure.

"This was just another challenge. A challenge I can overcome and document so that I can inspire others who are going through a similar battle and be able to provide a positive example," he said.

He shared these insights on staying upbeat in the face of desperate odds:

1. He didn't take things too seriously and surrounded himself with people who also kept the mood fun and light.

2. He stayed productive and kept doing the things that he loved.

3. He also gained perspective as he met people who were fighting harder battles. At the hospital, he met people with terminal illness and that humbled him.

Wil encouraged his followers to view challenges "not as a thing that brings you down, but something that lifts you up." — AT, GMA News
