Araneta Center paints pedestrian lanes with rainbow colors in time for Pride March

A week before the annual pride march, Araneta Center painted its pedestrian lanes in rainbow colors to show support for the LGBTQ community.

Speaking to GMA News Online, Araneta Center’s representative Annie Alejo said four pedestrian lanes in the Cubao hotspot were painted with rainbow colors last weekend.

“They are all at the intersection of Malvar Street, Gen. Aguinaldo Avenue,” Annie said on Facebook messenger.

The painting of the pedestrian lane is part of the art initiative of the Araneta Center, “for which we have used various street and black spaces as canvas or medium for urban art…this being Pride Month, we thought the pedestrian lanes would be a unique canvas for the occasion, with the Rainbow Lanes signifying our respect for all our differences.”

Apart from the Rainbow Lanes, a wall on Malvar Street has been painted with rainbow colors with an accompanying text: “love knows no limits.”

Says Annie, the walls and the pedestrian lanes were painted by Araneta employees themselves. “They’re from our creative and marketing department.”

On Facebook, Araneta’s proud post about its Rainbow Lanes has been shared over 7,000 times and has earned more than 1,000 comments and over 10,000 reactions.
Its video of the wall art meanwhile enjoys more than 4,000 views.

The Rainbow Lanes and the accompanying wall art will be up until the end of pride month.

Meanwhile, netizens have been tweeting their photos of the Rainbow Lanes.
