'Daddy’s Gurl' shoots up to number 1 on PHL Twitter trends as debut episode airs

On Saturday, "Daddy’s Gurl" premiered on GMA-7 and unsurprisingly, its accompanying hashtag, #DaddysGurlintheCity, shot up to the number 1 spot on Philippine Twitter trends.

“Hindi pa nga magsisimula! Salamat ng marami,” Maine Mendoza acknowledged the insanely warm reception.

Even before its airing time, #DaddysGurlintheCity garnered over 1 million tweets and peaked at 1.25 million tweets.

Together with Vic Sotto, the Phenomental Star is headlining the new comedy show where they play a father and daughter tandem.

Vic is Barak Otogan, a promdi widower dad with a pasosyal unica hija Visitacion “Stacy” Otogan, played by Maine.

Wally Bayola, Oyo Sotto, Angelika Dela Cruz, Benjie Paras, Jelson Bay, Chichirita, and Kevin Santos are among the mainstays.
